Blanc's Icicles

Posted by
Hannah (Cambridge, United Kingdom) on 31 October 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I found these when exploring Mont Blanc (the lower reaches admittedly) while skiing in Februrary after a day on the slopes.

I got hopelessly lost and lots the path, until I was wading through thigh deep snow. Eventually I gave up and followed the path of a long since frozen stream to get back down, sliding down the crevice filled rock. One such crevice had these long slender icicles in it, going deep to a level or 3 ft or more.
